Mission
SCIENCE Resources is a nonprofit organization devoted to helping
families and communities provide quality science and engineering
education.
Philosophy
In the advanced technological era in which we live, it is critical
to foster an appreciation of science and engineering in children
at a young age and to emphasize real-life applications for children
in the older grades. For primary and middle school children, this
means incorporating hands-on lessons. At the secondary school
level, this means incorporating student and professional laboratory
opportunities.
Quality science and engineering education, however, can require
significant resources and specialized knowledge. It is important
that these resources be made affordably available at the local
level.
The focus of SCIENCE Resources is to provide science and engineering
education programs and services that are not readily accessible
to students and to make these resources available locally, at
a reasonable cost. We define "resources" as programs (science
fair, robotics teams, labs, classes, etc.), services (science
equipment lending, teacher workshops, a mentoring and internship
network, program consultation), and one-time events (seminars,
field trips, and the like).
Goals
The goals of SCIENCE Resources are to offer programs and services that:
- Make quality, hands-on science and technology education more readily accessible and affordable to students in the local community.
- Assist parents, teachers and other educators in making science and technology education interesting, exciting, and fun for students.
- Facilitate the interaction between students and the science and engineering community.
